	About the Debate:
	The Senate Education Committee heard testimony on a draft version of education standards for math and language arts. The Commissioner of the Department of Children Families and Learning, Cheri Pierson Yecke presented the recommendations from Academic Standards Committee. The Academic Standards Committee was created by Gov. Tim Pawlenty to revamp Minnesota's education standards and is made up of higher education professionals, teachers, parents and business leaders.
