| Senate and House leaders reach a budget balancing agreement. Senate Majority Leader Roger Moe, House Speaker Steve Sviggum, Senate Minority Leader Dick Day, House Majority Leader Tim Pawlenty, Senate Assistant Majority Leader John Hottinger, and Senate Tax Chair Doug Johnson present a proposal to balance the state's budget for the current biennium without raising taxes. The plan draws on $1.3 billion in reserves, reduces permanent spending by $374 million, and makes one-time cuts of $131 million.
