About the Debate:
The Senate passed H.F. 2598 - a bill that requires the recitation of the pledge of allegiance at least once a week in public and charter schools on Special Orders.

H.F. 2598 was amended to include language that calls for the adult person in charge of the class or school to discuss the history and reasons for recitation of the pledge of allegiance at the beginning of the school year. Students will be informed that those choosing not to participate for personal reasons will not be considered unpatriotic.
