| The Senate passes HF 980- $1.2 billion bonding bill. Highlights of the bonding bill include: $233.5 million to the U of M and $266.6 million to MNSCU for repairs and new construction; $60.5 million for a new science laboratory for the Department of Health and Agriculture; $40 million to replace and restore local bridges; $8 million for the Northstar commuter rail project to run between St. Cloud and Minneapolis; $5 million for Northwest metro busway; $15 million for development grants in outstate Minnesota; $4.2 million for renovations to the Governor's mansion; and $30 million for the Guthrie Theater replacement. A number of amendments were offered to the bill. HF 980 passed on a 51-13 vote. The Senate will reconvene on Wednesday, February 20, 2002 at noon. |
