| The Committee passed SF 2812 - Transportation Funding bill and continued SF 3436 - Budget Reconciliation bill. The Committee passed two other bills: SF 1811 - a bill that transfers authority of drainage systems and SF 2125 - a bill that designates 102,315 acres of consolidated conservation lands as wildlife management areas. The Transportation Funding bill that passed the Committee spends $5 billion dollars on improvements to transportation over 10 years. Highlights of the plan included: a 6 cents per gallon gas tax increase; a Nov. 5 referendum in the 11 county metro area on whether to increase the sales tax by .5 percent for 10 years; and creating a multi-modale transporation fund. The Transportation Finance bill was referred to the Senate Floor. The Committee debated the budget reconcilation bill which will have a number of tax provisions added to it including a cigarette tax increase. The bill was continued. |
