| The Committee passes S.F. 3463 - a bill that clarifys the prohibition on certain applications of pesticides. SF 3463 would allow the Department of Agriculture to eradicate Gypsy Moth populations by spraying the bacteria Btk over affected areas. The bill also impacts the spraying for mosquitos which is a point of controversy. The committee heard testimony from the Department of Agriculture, the MN Center for Environmental Advocacy; the Metropolitan Mosquito Control District; the Governor's Office; and the Sierra Club. SF 3463 passed as amended and was referred to the Senate Floor. |
