| The committee continues SF 1861 - a bill that requires firearms to comply with certain safety requirements and passed SF 2580 and SF 2611. Three bills were taken up by the committee. SF 2580 - Foley: provides that certain license revocation hearings do not give rise to an estoppel on any issues in criminal prosecutions; provides for jurisdiction over persons found to have caused a delinquent act or charged by a juvenile petition; makes it child endangerment to permit a child to be present when a person possesses certain chemical substances; prescribes penalties for persons who escape from electronic monitoring. SF 2580 passed and goes to the Floor. SF 2611 - Ranun: adopts a new compact for interstate adult offender supervision and repeals the existing compact; creates an advisory council on interstate adult offender supervision. SF 2611 passed and is referred to the Judiciary Committee. SF 1861 - Ranum: requires firearms to comply with certain safety requirements; imposes criminal penalties. Massachusetts and California currently have this law on the books. Sen. Ranum tabled SF 1861 until the next meeting. |
