| The Senate passes the Family and Early Childhood Education funding bill
(HF 4) and the Jobs, Housing and Economic Development funding bill (HF
5). Four of the eight major appropriations bills have been approved by the
Senate so far in this special session.
The Family and Early Childhood Education bill appropriates $544 million for programs including child care subsidies, early childhood screening, Head Start, adult basic education, and library programs. It passed 36 to 27. The Jobs, Housing and Economic Development bill appropriates $365 million for economic development, employment, commerce and technology programs. It included no new spending over the current budget. It passed 63-0. The Senate will reconvene on Thursday, June 28, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. |
