| Several bills were considered on the Special Orders Calendar including the
Omnibus Health and Human Services bill which was taken from the table
and passed. The Health and Human Services bill appropriates $8.6 billion
over the next two years for health, human services and corrections. It
contains a controversial provision that requires women to wait 24 hours
and receive certain information before getting an abortion. An attempt was
made to move the abortion language from the omnibus funding bill to a
Health Department bill and failed. The bill passed 43-22.
