| Many bills were considered on the Special Order Calendar including the
Omnibus Agriculture Policy bill (SF 1495). The Agriculture bill was
amended to requires that all diesel fuel sold in Minnesota contain at least 2
percent soybean or vegetable oil by 2003. Industries that rely on diesel fuel
(truckers, airline, railroad) oppose the measure while environmentalists
and farmers support it. The biodiesel fuel amendment passed 48-15.
Senator Steve Murphy, DFL-Red Wing, authored Senate File 1495. The bill passed 62-3.
