| About the Meeting: | |
| An overview was given on the Omnibus Transportation and Public Safety
Funding bill (SF 2340). The committee removed a three cent per gallon tax
increase provision that could still be made part of the Omnibus Tax Bill. The
committee debated a proposed constitutional amendment (placed on the ballot
in Nov. 2002) that would dedicate 50% of vehicle sales tax revenues (MVET)
for highways, bridges and transit.
The bill passed 15-11 and is referred to the Rules Committee and then to the Finance Committee. Senator Dean Johnson, DFL-Willmar, authored Senate File 2340. |
