| Two campaign finance bills (SF 388 and SF 1579) are passed by the
Subcommittee. Senate File 388, the Fair and Clean Elections bill, provides
total public financing for statewide and legislative races for candidates who
accept limits on campaign spending and contributions. Senate File 1579, the
Administration's Open and Accountable Campaigns bill, regulates political
party and special interest group "independent expenditures" which are
currently unlimited.
