| Rose Hermodson from the Department of Children, Families and Learning
outlines the Governor's plan to increase the number of teachers. The plan,
Teachers for the 21st Century, has five provisions including loan forgiveness
and tuition reimbursements for teachers who teach in areas with teacher
shortages. In addition, it gives up to $2,500 a year to individuals in teacher
preparation programs and allows people with four year degrees in subjects
where there is a teaching shortage, to teach in the needed subject area while
working toward an educational licensure. |
