| Joint committee members heard from state Public Safety and Health officials on how Minnesota is
prepared to respond to public safety concerns that have arisen since September 11th. Public Safety
Commissioner Charlie Weaver discussed what safety measures are in place and where improvements
need to be made. State Health Commissioner Jan Malcolm addressed health issues and what the public
can do to prepare for biological related attacks. Major General Eugene Andreotti, Commander of the
National Guard, updated the committee on what security duties are being provided by the National
Guard.
The joint hearing is the first of a series of meetings on this issue. The next scheduled meeting for the Health and Family Security Committee is Thursday, November 8. The next scheduled meeting for the Crime Prevention Committee is Thursday, November 15th. |
