Author: Senator Michael P. Goggin
Prepared By: Priyanka Premo, Senate Counsel (651/296-3914)

S.F. 2795 directs schools to provide students with information about a career with the armed forces.

Section 1 requires all student plans to include information about armed forces career options; requires school districts to provide the same access to military recruiters as they do to other prospective employers or higher education institutions; and encourages school districts to sponsor an annual armed forces career day.

Section 2 encourages school counselors to provide students with information about the opportunities and benefits offered by the armed forces and information about the military enlistment test.

Section 3 allows educators who provide academic, college, or career planning support to students to satisfy continuing education requirements by submitting evidence of training on armed forces career options.
