S.F. No. 605 - Employee Gainsharing System Monthly Legislative Report Requirement

Author: Senator Mary Kiffmeyer

Prepared By: Stephanie James, Senate Counsel (651/296-0103)

Date: February 23, 2017

Section 1 [Employee Gainsharing System]

Subd. 1 [Commissioner must establish program] requires that gainsharing payments under current law be made in addition to existing monetary or nonmonetary performance-based recognition programs for state employees.

Subd. 2 [Monthly legislative report] adds a reporting requirement to the employee gainsharing program.  This section requires the commissioner of administration to report to the legislature monthly on the status of the gainsharing program.  This section identifies information that must be included in the monthly report.

The existing employee gainsharing program provides a bonus to a state employee for efforts to reduce costs of operating state government or for ways to provide better or more efficient state services.
