Author: Senator Justin D. Eichorn

Prepared By: Nora Pollock, Senate Counsel (651/297-8066)

Date: February 13, 2017

This bill provides a sales tax exemption for building materials and supplies used by a nonprofit snowmobile club to construct, reconstruct, maintain, or improve a state or grant-in-aid snowmobile trail. Under the grant-in-aid program, DNR provides local jurisdictions with financial assistance to create and maintain locally initiated snowmobile trails. Grant funds are disbursed upon demonstrated completion of certain benchmarks. A nonprofit snowmobile club is eligible for the exemption if it received a state grant-in-aid in the current or previous three years. Effective for sales and purchases made after June 30, 2017.
