Author: Senator Al DeKruif

Prepared By: Krista Boyd, Senate Fiscal Analyst (651/296-7681)

Date: March 8, 2011

Section 1 clarifies the section of statute regarding license plates for physically disabled persons, to indicate that disability plates issued to owners of trucks, recreational vehicles, and motorcycles are subject to the same laws as those issued to owners of other eligible motor vehicles.  It further clarifies that the eligible owner of a motorcycle will receive one disability plate instead of a set of two, and that this plate shall be the same size as a regular motorcycle plate.

Section 2 clarifies the section of statute which defines the scope of parking privilege for the physically disabled, to include references to all eligible vehicles, and references to the single motorcycle disability plate.

Section 3 clarifies the section of statute regarding issuance and display of disability parking identifying certificates, to include references to all eligible vehicles.  It also specifies that certificates issued to the eligible owner of a motorcycle must be able to be readily secured to the motorcycle.
