S. F. No. 2014 (First Engrossment) provides for Metropolitan Council members to serve staggered, four-year terms.  Members no longer serve at the pleasure of the Governor.  A member may be removed for misfeasance, malfeasance, or nonfeasance after written changes and a hearing. Currently, the terms of members ends with the term of the Governor and all members serve at the pleasure of the Governor.
