S.F. No. 1754 - Lawful Gambling Per Diem Reimbursement Modification for Military Marching, Color Guard, or Honor Guard Units

Author: Senator Mike Parry

Prepared By: Stephanie James, Senate Counsel (651/296-0103)

Date: March 5, 2012

Under current law, gross profits from lawful gambling (bingo, raffles, paddle wheels, tipboards, and pull-tabs) may be expended for certain “lawful purposes,” including a per diem reimbursement to members of military marching, color guard, or honor guard units for participating in color guard, honor guard, or marching unit events within the state or states contiguous to Minnesota for activities that recognize military service.

Section 1 [Lawful purpose] raises the per diem rate of reimbursement from $35 to $50 for each member of a military marching, color guard, or honor guard unit for participating in color guard, honor guard, or marching unit events.
